Very good Cat - a pretty essential link, that one Technet is super-necessary, I use it for reference several times a week, every week.

Tell Mark Russinovich I said 'hello hardcoding rookie'... lol!

That'd just be a rib, because we used to do work for the same company in the mid to late 90's & I had a 'small run in' with him @ one point, to which he was left, well, stuck with no replies & in ERROR, period.

(He even thanked me for correcting a literally ROOKIE level hardcode in an app of his... & then, after I helped he? He ended up writing up an article I had to FLOOR him on, because he called anyone that developed a certain type of program 'upstarts')

... well, this "upstart" had to point out that his current employer does the SAME KIND OF PROGRAM (albeit in character mode DOS tty term console app) & also that that type of app stops halting abend/errs in Exchange Server, & even helps "cure" FireFox's memory fragmentation problems, & can be used to help IBM DB/2 issues potentially (but, so can one of HIS apps, a cache controlling one)

* HOWEVER - I have to admit - He's a hard worker, & I'd definitely give him that ("genius", for whatever that really means, is 99% perspiration & 1% inspiration, imo, as it was for iirc, T. Alva Edison)... & yes, he does decent stuff (between he & his colleague, Bryce Cogswell)...

(So, what I stated above, would just be a 'good natured rib' (nobody is perfect is why I state that, & he'd know EXACTLY what I mean here)).

Mark R. has 2 rather OUTSTANDING apps, imo : Process Explorer, & yes, Process Monitor (combination of his older tools, regmon & filemon)... useful as anything, especially killing off &/or tracing spyware-malware, & I would compliment he & his colleague on that note, anytime.

APK

P.S.=> He's really good @ doing "layered filtering driver" polling & reporting programs, but sometimes? I do question his "methods" (tracing & disassembly, which anyone can do imo, given enough time & a book on assembler if need be, + using WinDbg or SoftIce etc.)... apk
