To me this is not a matter of who likes what. Performance is everything. Free means nothing after you are infected. It will mean either a $200 trip to the computer shop to have the viruses, trojans, spyware, adware and other malware removed... or you can always reformat and start over. So how do you find out which firewall is preforming best? Make your own decision by visiting: Leak-tests results - matousec.com ... I use Online-Armor because I cannot afford to loose control of my computer. But you decide for yourself. Please understand that just because one Firewall has been rated better than another does not mean you should use that particular firewall. Go to each forum supporting the product in question and see if the users of the product are experiencing any technical difficulties that you want to avoid. Then when you weigh in all the facts you can make an educated decision. If you want free stuff you will be more vulnerable, but with enough due diligence you can be reasonably safe. Who has the best Anti-Virus? You can always listen to PC World's recommendations, but if you acquire a security suite but have only evaluated the anti-virus part of the suite, you will have a problem. Take McAfee and Bit Defender for instance. Though PC World rated them near or at the top in AV performance, the firewall portion of these respective companies products are rated at near the bottom of the totem pole in performance! Not a good way to review a product! They leave you fairly well covered in one area and leave you wide open in another if you are considering a Security Suite! So who do you believe?!? Look to places like AV-Comparatives and AV-Test.org · Tests of Anti-Virus- and Security-Software. Look at articles like Übersetzte Version von http://www.pcwelt.de/news/sicherheit/59058/index.html and others like them. Remember that just because a virus detector ranks high now does not mean it will rank high next month. But having companies that constantly test each product as new malware is released onto the Internet is a great boon to us all. It keeps these software vendors on their toes and keeps us informed! Eventually you will see who has the best track record. This is the company that you should put your trust in. My Anti-virus solution would be NOD32 or Kaspersky AV. My suite solution would be Online-Armor AV+. I don't use free AV or Firewall solutions because if just one bad trojan or virus gets through it is no longer free or fun. However, there is one free product that is worthy of mention: SUPERAntiSpyware. Go to SUPERAntiSpyware.com - AntiAdware, AntiSpyware, AntiMalware! for a look. Ever wonder if a file running on your computer is ligit or not? How can you tell?!? Wonder no more! Get this software! Personally I would go for the professional version. There is extreme benefit to this software. I hope this helps you to make an informed decision.
