Firewire was developed by Apple, but is used on most all machines, regardless of the OS. Most newer machines have at least one Firewire port. Even if the case does not offer one, many motherboards do have one.

You will see IEEE 1394 on the board or next to a port on your machine case somewhere.


It is the next revolution to USB (?), with speeds around 400/800 Mbit/s.
