That's when doing a roof is a BUMMER... having to replace the foundation planks!
(Ugh... not only having to scrape possibly MULTIPLE layers (according to code around here, you can ONLY GO 3 layers deep, before you have to go ALL FRESH tile again) of rotted out shingles, & getting roofing tar ALL OVER YOU, lol... Which sux in & of itself!)
* LOL, once, around a 16 yrs. ago or so, my nephew (now a freshman comp. sci. major @ RIT) was only like 2-3 yrs. old, & climbed up on the ladder where I was redoing my Ma's roof!
(I got lucky though, in not having to replace planks though, thank goodness)
& I was JUST finishing off the "cap" part, & he climbed up the ladder (takes 'balls" imo, even for older folks) & he then said:
"Can I help Uncle Al?"
& I was like:
"Gord! Climb down off the ladder, right now man...!!!"
& he did...
(However, he got tar all over his hands & feet (from the ladder where I left it off of my gloves, can't avoid it))
... & I had NO idea he got covered in it!
All I heard from the inside was:
"AAAAAAA!!!"
(Massive yelling from my ma, because my nephew got roofing tar on her rug on the steps where you come into her home...)
APK
P.S.=> It was only a couple spots, which I cut out & glued in shavings of the rug from extra remnants we had from when it was put in, thank goodness... & the boy was ONLY trying to help, so he did not 'catch a beating' & all that! I thought it was funny, & something to share, about roofing!
The lesson? Don't let those with even "the best intentions" come up & help... they're almost GUARANTEED to get smeared in roofing tar, everytime! apk
