Hmm. Dr Who might be a boy thing....although I do know girls who enjoy it too. Generally I'm not a serious sc-fi head (puh-lease...no more star treckie things) - of course there are exceptions - but I enjoy Dr Who for many reasons, one of which is that it doesn't take itself too seriously if you acquires my drift.
