Hello all!

I have a sound I use for the "Start Windows" sound. My new machine plays it . . sometimes. Sometimes I only hear the end of it, other times not at all.

On rare occasions I hear the whole sound. Why would this be? Surely the machine doesn't go through a different startup sequence every time I boot.
The Start Windows sound is not critical to me (though I would like to hear it), but it makes me wonder just what's going on.
Any clues?
