What is the best editor for touching up photographs and the like?

i prefer photoshop. but sometimes i use Corel photopaint too, or a combination of both

i prefer photoshop overall becuase first of all becuase i know how to use it and second becuase it is easy and complex

Yeah, I've been using Photoshop for a while and it's the only program that I like. I'm no expert by any means, but it does the job

Photoshop is "industry standard", but you could also try Macromedia Fireworks.

Fireworks is pretty good. I'd still choose Photoshop over it though.

Can't really compare 'em can you? Isn't Fireworks vector graphics?

I never used fireworks - but my take on it is a cross between flash and image ready
