Hey guys, I hope you will tolerate an old dog trying to learn new tricks. I recieved a laptop as a birthday present, Jan 08. No prior experience...I evolved from the const. trades, cert. pipe and structural welder, boiler mech., ironworker...Anyway its time for a new career. I'll try to stay out of the way and learn from a distance.
JFYI: "He's an old hippie and he dont know what to do, hold on to the old or grab on to the new..." song from the 70's I think.

I'm not a welder or iron worker but I come from a refinery town and most of my old friends are. Nice to meet a fellow 'Old Hippie'!

LastChance2: Hi there!

* Nice to meet a "regular guy" type person, because much as sepulchre commented before me? MOST of my pals are guys pretty much just like yourself, who do welding, iron work, etc. et al... they're the best guys there is, imo (me, coming outta the "business world/white collar" as of the last 20 yrs. or so - the 'haven of snakes', lol!).

APK

P.S.=> Good forums here, really nice folks, not "too fast" as some forums are, & good up-to-date news section PLUS other sections cerntered around computing here have a lot of good info. anyone can use, that is into these machines... apk

Hey, lastchance2:

I GOT YOUR "P.M.", & here is my reply, here instead of via "pm"...

I think the reason you may not be seeing your avatar (or other photos like signature, or others you put up), might be that you're not allowing your browser to see images, perhaps?

It's also possible that you "flushed" your webbrowser cache... for instance, I KNOW that FireFox offers this @ shutdown, each time it runs... perhaps that is the case here, & you're set to load ONLY 'cached images', however, IF they're "flushed"? You have NO IMAGE to start with... since webpage cache was flushed (possibly, depending on browser you use, or if you did it yourself manually).

E.G.-> In Opera, I can set the browser to reload images EVERY TIME I go to a website... or, I can set it to 'cached images only' (meaning use ones already present on disk in the webbrowser cache that may be older than the ones on the website etc. & out-of-date et al... & also to tell it to check images only SO many times a month etc., rather than telling it to check images on a website, everytime you GO to said website).

These are just SOME ideas... others may be that you are NOT allowing this website to 'set a cookie'... some sites I go to, for instance, won't let you see members' signatures (either text ones, or images) if you DON'T logon &/or take cookies...

* Just some ideas, not guaranteed to work, but... some ideas, for now/starters!

APK

P.S.=> Asking the mods/admins here may shed more light on it, as every website does things just a BIT differently in their forums than others do (& the fact that many forums boards engines ARE different period also)... hope this helps though, OR, gets us on the 'right-track' (or, @ least eliminates SOME things to look @ here)... apk
