First of all, the monitor didn't go dead. Here's what happened:

I looked over and saw a very quick DOS like box that said something about "signal" and then the monitor went dark. The green light went to yellow as if my CPU was powered down or asleep. So, I switched the monitor off and then on again. The light goes from yellow to green with some very quick message that I'm only catching "signal" from and then the monitor goes dark and the light changes to yellow.

My first thing to do will be to make sure my connections are all made, and possibly switch out the cable.

Anyone ever have something like this happen? I've not seen this before today.

Edit: It says "no signal or cable disconnected".

Please check all cable in / out puts, are you on onboard GFX or GPU ? does drivers show in device manager / Hardware ? and have you tried the monitor on another Computer ?

Everything is so tight in this little office that I've been squirming around all over the place and under the desks...

I unplugged the monitor and plugged in another monitor. When the first monitor is powered up and not plugged in, it give a very quick box that says "no signal or cable disconnected". When plugged into the card, it says the same. It's not possible to change the cable on any of my monitors since it's hardwired into the monitor; only the power cable comes unplugged.

When the second monitor is powered up and not plugged in, it rotates between a dark screen with four boxes (like the screen is divided into fourths) and a light screen with four boxes. When plugged into the card, it continues the same thing.

Seems like the monitors are okay and must be the card. I'll be taking off the case to make sure everything is plugged in, and if so, time for some new parts.

My present video card is a gigabyte Radeon 9200. Processor is AMD Athlon XP 2500+, Mobo is Biostar M7NCD Pro.

Further suggestions or questions?

Radeon 9200 is that AGP 8X ?, they tend to cost more than PCI-E, do you know the max card the Motherboard can hold ? then i can look on sites like Tiger and see if i can come up with anything

I bought a Radeon 9550 AGP card today and plugged it in. I got this one for half price since the store was wanting to be Newegg and Tiger. Anyway...

Same results. Neither monitor is working when hooked up to this computer, but they do work on the other computers (so monitors are okay).

Other suggestions?

Looks like getting my friend up here to give me a hand. I also bought a 500gig Maxtor internal HDD for it today, too. Geemyknee! Wasn't planning on rebuilding the whole CPU!

Just wondering have you tried the on board display ? does your friend have access to test equipment ?

No, I've not tried anything else except swapping out the video card.

My friend has more stuff than I know what it's for. Getting in touch with him may be a little hard, but I'm going to ask him for his expertise.
