Need ideas people, it was about time i got a USB 2.0 hub so i did - wasn't working well in itunes when importing music from HD so plugged external power in - to say the least things went tits up and the External HD is now flashing as if it's doing something but won't mount to the computer.

The HD is a Lacie d2 Big Disk, any advice welcome

Hi Ian

Your on Tiger OX S do the other USB ports work ? - Mouse, Printer etc ? also try running Apple's Disk Utilities and see if your Ex HDD is listed in the drives on the left of the window. If it is then click once on it to select and try the mount button at the top of the window and if that fails look at the bottom of the window for the Mount Point. This is the Unix path that the disk should mount from. There is a blue underlined text in this window for the disk name. It's a hot point, so click on that and the disk may mount. Also if the Ex HDD can be seen by Disk Utilities then running the verify check would be a good idea.

doesn't mount on start up, disk utility doesn't list it and diskwarrior can't detect it, i'm waiting on the reply from LaCie support.

Would the hub mess up the system, or the change up to 2.0? I really didn't know that a hub change would do that. I thought it would either work on not work.

I upgraded a USB hub from 1.5 to 2.0 and it just wouldn't work.
