I have a Microsoft Wireless Laser Mouse 5000 that I'm using and have had no problems with it. However, it kicked into high gear last night with the vertical scrolling. I can't even control the vertical scroll since it's so sensitive. The OS is Windows XP Pro.

I went into the mouse control panel, under the scrolling tab, and set the vertical and horizontal scrolling to the lowest setting. This didn't slow it down. I went back in and disabled the accelerated scrolling (the longer you scroll, the faster it goes) and this didn't help.

It's really hard to use the vertical scroll and I have to go to the scroll bar and use the arrows to scroll at a controllable rate.

Any suggestions?

Dave

Hi Dave

Take a cotton bud and clean the Laser window "TFT Cleaner works well", if the Mouse is still acting up reinstall it and if that don't work you may have a dud Mouse, is it still on guarantee ?

The bad thing is that I did several things before checking my mouse and now it's working well.

I cleaned it and the receiving unit. I installed CCleaner and ran it today. Got rid of a bunch of files and some general up keep. I meant to do a backup today and I forgot....maybe later. Anyway. After doing a bunch of stuff and rebooting my computer, it's working like it should.

Maybe the cleaning did it, but I'm not sure. My son says his is doing the same thing so maybe we can figure out what it is on his. Like do one thing and check.

I'm thinking that the cleaning might have done it. If it happens again, I'll do one thing at a time and check it.
