The new nVidia 9600 Graphics Cards are out !

Ive been looking at the spec "very nice and what a brilliant price !" one of these would be a perfect match for my new MOBO "Asus P5N-T Deluxe nForce 780i" so its quite possible it will be a 9600 i order within the next week (want to discus the spec of the 9600 and the ATI Radeon HD 3870 X2 with Dad first)

But, the 9600s are not dual GPUs, are they? Reading around various forums lots of people say 'don't give up your 8800'. In fact the only comparisons I've seen pit an 8800 against two 9600s. Looks to me like the Radeon's the heavy hitter at this point. That being said, it does cost about twice as much as the Nividia.

We put the two specs together and the only way the 9600 would match the 3870 X2 is in SLI, and I'm not a fan of that so for performance and muscle its clear the 3870 X2 from ATI is the one i want "ordering this morning !!!

The 9600GT outperforms an 8800GS apparently, but the other 8800 models outperform it. Still, it offers similar performance to an 8800, which isn't bad, as the 9600GT is a mid range card. I am waiting for the 9800 X2 (March 11th apparently) and I'll see what I'll buy then!

BTW, 3870 X2 - good choice!

There's probably a few benchmarks around, I vaguely remember seeing one, but won't properly remember because of the fact I'm not really interested in SLI. Though it seemed like it performed just as well as the 8800GT's, the 3870 and the other high end cards.

You have to remember, that the 9600GT is a mid range solution for nVidia's next series of cards.
