My father uses a wireless/optical mouse for his PC in the office. I was thinking he bought one so he could make selections in the music player while he is working at the other table. A wireless mouse looks cool and you don't have to worry about a wire that dangles around while you work. Other than those, I can't figure why I should even bother with it since I work near the keyboard and the monitor.

If you don't think you need it, then don't get one

I use a wireless mouse because I hate the cord, and I like the freedom of moving my mouse freely I never go far away from the keyboad/monitor with my mouse either, but it's still nice to get rid of that cord.

I brought one last month and it was actually the same one I saw my friend buy. I thought to myself...hmm that's a bit much but the next week, i end up buying it myself lol. This is an excellent mouse for my laptop and it comes with a stand so you plug the USB receiver into it so you could use it for your desktop^^

Now it might be about $50 or so, but it's worth it. Wonderful value and i'm still very happy with it. I can tell you anything else you need to know about it if you decide to get it^^

I have a Logitech G7, and its been fantastic. it's a bit hefty, but worth every cent.

My boyfriend got a wireless keyboard and mouse so he could work from his bed . . . ah, technology really does benefit the lazy ones. . . .

I think they're pretty cool, but I probably won't get one, as I don't really see the point. Yeah, the cord can get in the way, but typically, it's not a hassle. If I used my laptop more regularly I might invest in one, but since I do the majority of my work on my desktop, I don't really need it.

The one thing to look at is switches; I assume they exist beyond those my father customized, but battery-powered mouses that stay on throughout the night are good battery killers...

The one I have turns off after about 10 seconds on inactivity. Or into "sleep" mode, I think they call it. One charge lasts about a week.

64-Bit Man, that is one fancy mouse. Works as a remote control as well! My father would surely have bought that if he hasn't one already. "6 months of battery life..." How true is that?

That is what I do, Chroder. I still use my old, corded mouse.

Yup the battery life is true, using it now as I type. Haven't changed it yet^^

Also, the batteries are included Oh and it has the Media Life thing which is like using the Media Center in XP Media Center Edition 2005. It's nice for a little bit, but then you might want to use that extra button for something else. All buttons are programmable.

That battery life is actually impressive...maybe my father just received a cheap one

Regardless, he added a switch and it now works wonder.
