nVidia 7950 GT Video Cards... with passive cooling? |

Apparently. XFX seems to be manufacturing a 7950GT with passive cooling. I have a 7900GT, and the fan is the loudest part of my system. Passive cooling sounds like an excellent idea, but I wonder how it will really play out. Most likely these passively cooled 7950's will only be found in large ATX tower cases, because the cooling of the case will be critical if the video card is passively cooled.

The stock 7950 is around $600, so I'm guessing it would be around there... but the 7xxx series is old news, the new G80 and the 8xxx series should be coming out soon (either almost in time for holiday season or just after), and those cards will be DirectX 10 supported cards, and probably have passive cooling on the high end models.
On the cooling note, Sapphire has an ATI card called Toxic. This card comes with a little device you put in your PCI slot, so that you can have a mini water cooling setup to cool the card. Pretty amazing. Alex
