I always thought that ultraedit or zend studio were the best editors I could use, but no .. noOoo

It is textmate, really .. it is the best ever. I purchased a license and was suprised how cheap it is. Oh my .. for what it can do, what is all included and everything. I really really like it.

It is for the mac and I hope development won't stop soon.

If you run a mac: get textmate, you will do everything document, programming or management/project related with it.

Textmate is the one app that I really really really wish I had. I'll get it eventually

For those who need the link: TextMate — The Missing Editor for Mac OS X

If you are on a Mac and want to see it in action, they have a bunch of screencasts published that show off various bits of functionality.

And for us Mac-less people? How about NoteTab?

For those learning Ruby scripting like me, SciTE is wonderful. You can also change the language to any programming style so the syntax coloring and text looks like it. You can even change it to the FORTRAN style lol.

I like SciTE (and ScITE based editors like Notepad++), but nothing on Windows compares to the functionality you can get with Textmate.

It's the triggers and such that you can set up with Textmate. By the time you have everything set up the way you like it, you hardly have to type at all. All you have to do is a couple of letters [tab], some more letters [tab] then you're all done lol.
