Maybe someone you know can test it ? just take it of a Drive header "IDE2" / SATA Head, if its just the enclosure it may not be expensive to fix and you may get your data back

well, the problem being that is HFS+ formatted (OSX) so in all reality there's no way to test it cindy

There's bound to be way to get your data off there, if the drive isn't fried, and there's a good chance it's not. I've worked in electronics for years before getting into programming and in my experience overvoltage generally cooks the first component it gets to and stops there. So finding someone with a Mac (and willing to help) would be your best shot at recovery. Even if you get a new drive, don't pitch that one. You never can tell when something wonderful may happen.

^ Agree, don't bin the HDD if you just cant get in to it "eg" (controller board is dead) 10 to one the platers are OK there are some very good on line firms that specialise in data recovery - for a price, but it depends if you consider the data to be more valuable than the cost of recovery Ian

not really cat, i can re download the vids and the music, the only bug bare is the software that was on there - games and apps i had bought, i'll keep the HD that could be solved at some later point.

going into computer shop at weekend anyway to see about getting a machine built, so i'll ask about the HD see if they can take it out and into another enclosure.
