I wonder when that will be. Apparently the latest beta is still not even close to stable (according to reputable testers). If they can't get to a Release Candidate soon, then they won't make their February release they set for themselves...

I say wait....wait and see. Start by looking if it's worth it, then if it really is, I say upgrade all the way with a 64bit system and DirectX 10 enabled video card

lol is that sarcasm Slytes?

I'm not getting my system until after Vista comes out. The hardware I can get for cheap should be over the recommended requirements at that time.

Why would Vista require so much need of good hardware? It doesn't Look like it has more graphics then tiger (made in 2002). And transparency should not and does not require that much memory. Maybe the requirements go down once its released because that is ridiculous. For heaven sakes its an operating system. A year ago it was hard to find a GAME that required 1GIG. I think the early beta relies was a mistake because it is arousing responses that it 'itself' might have bugs. If you what something to look professional make it... ...well LOOK professional. Personally the so called NEW fitures are not new at all. I consider, as far as I can sean, it's a repetitive of win 1.0. (read about it within some history page)
Moving it further ahead in time was probably caused by the competition with the upcoming Mac os X (leopard). The prices are a bit confusing too. No, I'l use XP on my pc's until the second version of Vista is out.
