I have a warning (in a red bar at the top of my Gmail) that says my cache is full and Gmail may not respond correctly. There is a link in the warning to hide the warning and another link to an explanation to correct the problem. The fix is to go to Tools, Internet Options, and then delete the temp files.

I delete the temp files every other day, so I didn't think this was really a problem. However, I did as it said by logging out of Gmail, deleting the junk, and then logging back in. The problem is that the notice is still at the top of my Gmail even though my cache is empty.

Has anyone had this problem? Why do you think the warning is there even though I've deleted the cache?

BTW, I do not have this same problem in FF.

Dave

Go into Windows Explorer, and delete the contents of your Temporary Internet Files. (Should be in C:\Documents and Settings\YOURMACHINE\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files.)

Sometimes just clearing things through the Tools menu in IE doesn't finish the job.

Also, if you leave your machine on all the time (or close to it), reboot. Yep, the old Win95 solution to all things problematic. After you've restarted and before you open anything, in Windows Explorer, clear out your C:\Documents and Settings\YOURMACHINE\Local Settings\Temp and Termporary Internet Files directories. ALSO, empty your recycle bin.

I know I've seen the problem you've described, but I don't quite remember if I had to do more than just "routine maintenance" to fix it.

A rather late response, I know....

Going through the tools menu didn't clear that notice, nor did the re-boot. I went into the temp folder via Windows Explorer and deleted the files. Then re-booted, again.

And I still had that message.

I don't know how, but about a week later, the message was gone. It's a mystery to me.

I guess it's fixed. Don't know how, but I'm glad it's working.

One might also assume that there was a problem with the Google email recognizing that the problem had been fixed, or was not there to begin with. But, how dare I have thoughts like that, huh!

I had the same problem a few times. I tried to delete the cache, too, but it didn't help at all. I chalk it up to Gmail not recognizing that the IE cache was empty. Ultimately, my solution to fixing the problem permanently was to go and switch to Mozilla. Not only did this take care of my Gmail problem, it took care of pretty much every other problem that came up in IE. I only wish I hadn't been so stubborn about switching in the first place. I'm a creature of habit, but this change benefitted my life exponentially.

Another happy switcher

+1 for FireFox conversion^^

What's better is that it is has a lot of functions and security. Since a lot of users use FF (myself included), you'll more than likely have answers to your problems.

Hehe.

I've heard of similar problems from users using Firefox as well It's just some crazy cache issue.
