Malware is a generic term increasingly being used to describe any form of malicious software.
That is where the name Malware (Malicious Software) comes from, and can be used to describe various security threats like viruses, trojan horses, rootkits, bots and any malicious "active content" or rogue program or software that is designed to attack some part of a computer system.
