I have 4 different computers on a network (2 desktops and 2 laptops). Since this network was not set up at one time, the computers have different AVs and firewalls.

Do you know of any problems having a single network and different AVs and firewalls?

I'm using Network Magic to run the network. The computers have different OSs, like XP, XP Pro, and Vista. Two computers are wired connections and the two laptops are wireless. I don't know that there should be problems and it might be cheaper if they all had the same AV and firewall, but I was wondering if anyone has seen problems with set ups like this.

Dave

the firewalls may act oddly together at times i suppose - although not unless you think of everything do xp and vista play nicely?

Hi Dave

As the Firewalls / AVs are local to each Computer you should have no problem, and if you are transferring commands / files etc its just a question of allowing access via the receiving Firewall, I have three Computers on line and each has its own security behind a hardware Firewall

Ian, have a look at Boot Camp, you can try XP / Vista on your Mac

The network is doing great with no problems between different AVs or OSs or whatever. Which is really good because I wanted to try NOD32 on my newest addition to the network.
  1. Computer 1: Desktop, XP Pro, AVG AV, Lavasoft firewall
  2. Computer 2: Desktop, XP Pro, NOD32 AV & firewall
  3. Computer 3: Laptop, Vista, Norton AV & firewall
No problem with the file sharing or anything....yet!
