I loved NOD32 so much that I bought the Pro version. It does a few more things than the freeware. I highly recommend it both the free and pro versions.

NOD32 did really well on some independent tests for firewalls and virus scanners!

I'm currently using Avast, along with Spybot search & destroy and Regcure. So is NOD32 a lot better? I want to make sure this new machine is protected.

Hey, I was looking around for NOD32 when I came across this. Has anyone had similar problems with?
NOD32 antivirus won't shut down | Tech news blog - CNET News.com
It seems that once its been run you can't shut it off. I don't really like stuff I can't turn off when I want. Maybe they just didn't know how.

I think ESET have made a mistake with the latest version of Nod32 if its meant to keep running and as the Guy said using lots of CPU power there are other applications to conceder, i like Counter Spy "retail application", works well for me

Oh yes, I used the trial version last year when I had some problems and it seemed really good. I had forgotten about it. I guess I should go and see about getting it. Thanks, Cindy!

I have the latest and greatest NOD32 from ESET on two of my machines. I've done some tests and have been able to shut down both the firewall and the AV. No problems with Windows updates or anything.

Also, I don't see that it's resource heavy. I think it's very light and uses very little of the resources available. Of course, I was running Norton on one machine until about a month ago, so anything might appear light to that.

I'm wondering if he's running the 64 bit when he should be running the 32. I wouldn't think that Michael Horowitz would make that mistake, but I've seen some strange things happen when using the wrong one.
