VGA Snapped Off MotherBoard

I recently got hold of a motherboard but the VGA connection on the board has snapped at the solder joints.

I think its either a P3 or P4 processor on the board so I really wanna get hold off a small solderin iron

Anyone ever had this problem before? Need a really small iron because the solder joints are tiny...

Also - apart from display could this in any way prevent the system from starting up (turning on)

You must have the exact "VGA connection on the board" for it to work....if u soldier it correctly it shall bootup

Yeah if you solder it correctly it should botot up and work. If you solider it incorrectly it probably wont boot, if you dont solider it at all it shouls still boot i think.

If you really dont want to take the chance of soldering it, u can always pick up a PCI Video Card

in the end i just used an old pci vga card i ha lying around. its only 8mb but it will do for now until i actually find a use for the pc

Does everyone here make a habit of not checking their spelling?

Anyway, could you just not return it. After all, if you solder it incorrectly, or slip whilst doing it you might mess up all of it big-time.

From the description, it sounds like it is pretty old. I doubt there is anyone to return it to... but just a guess on my part.

Seeing how busy this forum is, I think sometimes bumping an old thread to get things started is a luxury we can afford. On the other hand just starting a new thread might be more appriciated by the staff.
