I am in deep <beep> because my passive fan dropped off from the motherboard from the chip below the cpu (maybe the co processor or something). The little hook that pushes it in place broke and has to be solded back on.

So far the system works, even in gaming, and uptime is over 50 days but surely this will one day become a problem.

My eyes are too bad to make a tweak to my system to put it back on - i will probably blow the whole thing up, and i need a new pc anyway. But should I? Or do you think it is worth fixing? And if so, how?

Take it into your local repair store and ask if they think it's worth repairing. I wouldn't try doing it yourself around that part of the Motherboard.

They probably say yes to try it at least and charge like $75, whereas a new top of the range mobo is $175. I rather want to repair it myself.

If you know that it has to be sodered back on, can you do it yourself? Fry's has the small sodering tools that it takes to do it.
