For simple photo editing, not necessarily making graphics, which software do you use or recommend? I currently use Microsoft Digital Image Suite 10. Photoshop is for the pros and although I think it is generally more useful than others, I do not really know how to use it. Digital Image is rather easy to use.

Paint Shop Pro is a great alternative to Photoshop. I used to use the earlier versions of PSP and I had a trial version of PSP7 years ago. I think you can get a free trail version of something like that. FREE software.....I KNOW they exist..but i don't know what the names are.

Is Photoshop what you used with the images in your signature and avatar, Nick? If it is, I think I might learn how to use it to enhance photos. My grandmother's collection of old family photos could really use a touch up or two.

Indeed it is. If you are interested, there are many tutorials on photo retouching for photoshop.

Photoshop is definitely the only photo editor I use. I could probably learn to use another one, but nothing I've tried works as well. I hated Photosuite! And don't even get me started on the times I've been stranded with nothing but microsoft paint . . ..

Microsoft Paint? I have never made anything there other than draw nonsense stuff. My friends tried to make a logo with it and they said it looked good. It must not have looked professional. Thanks for the link, Nick. It's a neat site. My sister will sure enjoy a tutorial for Photoshop.

GIMP is alright, but Photoshop still runs rings around it.

I'm still learning the Gimp, and have also played around with Gimpshop, which is basically a mod of the Gimp that changes the GUI to match that of Photoshop.

Gimpshop! at Plastic Bugs

If you're somewhat familiar w/ photoshop, but don't want to pirate, and don't have the money to spend, it may be worth a try.

That's quite an interesting mod. Definitely makes everything a bit more familiar.
