Firefox 3 is finally stable. Are you using it yet?
I participated in the "download day"; got it hot off the presses Very impressed, it's awesome ![]() The widgets kinda suck on Mac OS still, but willing to live with that. The overall chrome is looking great (I installed the grapple theme). The memory usage and startup time is much better, so it's once again my primary browser. |

FF3's already got "security holes" in it, hours after its release: http://secunia.com/advisories/30761/ Opera 9.50, also newly released? Has NO SUCH security issues! (& still is @ a total of 0% KNOWN UNPATCHED SECURITY VULNERABILITIES)... PLUS, I am testing FF3, right now as I write this, on THIS website, & have had issues with it already! (Mainly in logging in, once you are inside a topic already & trying to reply here - it won't let you see the "password" field, but it DOES let you see the "username" field, IF you are inside a topic trying to reply - the "workaround" is to hit the MAIN forums section & then login, because then it lets you see the "username" AND "password" fields)! Opera 9.50 also gets the formatting right on this forums, & also does NOT give me a hardtime on logging into a post to reply (where FF3 omits the pwd field) either... BOTTOM-LINE? Opera's faster, more secure, & just overall BETTER, just based on history AND what I am seeing as "messed up" so far, in FF3... APK P.S.=> Also, upon replies? FF3 seems to omit placing in , same as enter key keypress (carriage return + linefeed) & sets the formatting of posts all "willy-nilly", as far as I am concerned... as you can see here? I am NOT getting my paragraph breaks inserted as they SHOULD be, using FF3... (my initials & P.S. for instance, are ALWAYS in diff. paragraphs when I post)... apk

Yep, participated in download day too - installed on mac an vista box, memory/cpu usage drop is very nice difference. Personally i thought the default theme sucked and don't like the new grapple themes, i used EOS which is lighter like camino in ff2.
Not sure what you mean by widgets, what widgets? i know opera has widgets but not firefox as far as i know.

Same reply, done in Opera 9.50 (for posterities' sake, & to illustrate ONE of the issues I have on this forums board engine, using FireFox 3, by way of comparison):

* It happens - for instance: in the "Operating System" section here on these forums, for example, I found out a "bug" I was seeing in Explorer.exe (MyConmputer) when rightclick renaming & deleting files (if named a URL that is) was caused by something called a "Shell Extension" (3rd party Tools you can use to extend your desktop shell & file manager programs in Windows, usually)) This MIGHT be what I am seeing in FF3 now, an .xpi addon that needs updating! APK

Then, it is still happening here @ least (& I only use NoScript, FastDial (like Opera's native feature, albeit an addon for that in FF), OperaView, SiteSecurity Policy, & Adblock Plus, as far as FF .xpi addons I use here, personally... it MIGHT be one of these!) * It happens - for instance: in the "Operating System" section here on these forums, for example, I found out a "bug" I was seeing in Explorer.exe (MyComputer) when rightclick renaming & deleting files (if named a URL that is) was caused by something called a "Shell Extension" (3rd party Tools you can use to extend your desktop shell & file manager programs in Windows, usually)) This MIGHT be what I am seeing in FF3 now, an .xpi addon that needs updating! ---- REPOSTED SAME REPLY AGAIN NOW, IN OPERA THIS TIME, VS FF3 ABOVE IN MY LAST POST PRIOR TO THIS ONE, to illustrate 1 of the 2 hassles FF3 gives me, once more, after I did updates to ALL of my FF3 .xpi addons... still same hassle! APK P.S.=> Imo, the MOST impressive set of fixes in FF3 thusfar, vs. FF2? Are these (to memory mgt.): http://blog.pavlov.net/2008/03/11/fi...-memory-usage/ GOOD READ if you're into such material... apk

Hm that's weird the linebreaks aren't working for you... It looks like it's the Rich Text Editor that is screwing things up, notice how HTML entities like " are showing up.
About the security vulns -> Yeah that *really* sucks that after less than a day, 2 vulns pop out for FF3. The Mozilla team must be banging their heads against the wall! |

of BOTH memory leakage, AND more importantly imo, memory fragmentation (big problem in FF in the past, still is, but just not as bad now is all)... APK P.S.-> Check that URL in my PS section above in my last reply if you get time, for more detail on that... pretty cool stuff! apk

![]() * Finally, direct from the source I usually refer to, for code vulnerabilities errors? FireFox NOW does the job & "cuts-the-mustard", in my book on that account, per the URL above's data, right there! Pertinent page excerpt/quote? See below/next! Unpatched 0% (0 of 3 Secunia advisories) APK P.S.=> Until the next bug surfaces that is, but for now? Good job on their dev team's end... apk
