DVD Decoder?

I recently formatted my computer and now when I try to play DVDs, it pops up saying, "Windows Media Player cannot play the DVD because a compatible DVD decoder is not installed on your computer." What program should I get and where can I get one for free that is compatible for Windows Media Player? I was under the impression that WMP had its own decoder, but I guess not.

What version of Windows Media Player do you have? If you recently reformatted, it may be an outdated version.

I just updated to WMP 10.
