New here.
I need more ram. I have a fairly new dell 3.20Ghz desktop w/ 512 MB/ram. It's configured w/ 2 sticks now w/ 2 empty slots. If I want to double what I have now would it be best just to add 2 more sticks. I'm sure it's DDR2, but how do I find out the speed I need to order.

does the system information dialogue say anything on that? open the run window and type winmsd.exe - should tell you something about your ram

Hi WayneW

You probably have your Ram sorted by now but anyone wanting to upgrade there system adding Ram is a good start (but you need to get the right Ram for your system) Windows or any other OS wont tell you exactly what your Ram is "eg" what pin, what speed / type "see Annabell's very good post > Here, or how much more you can add or slot config But Crucial can via there free scanner (i use and recommend it) The scan will tell you exactly what type of Ram you have, how much your Motherboard can hold, all speeds you can use (if your system has been fitted with sud standard Ram Crucial Scan will tell you the correct Ram to use in your system, also give you a choice and price from Crucial "you don't have to buy from them", this great service is free to all, for all Windows & Mac, please see links below

Nice links, Cat. I've got a friend wanting to update and I can have them run that and give me the info! Cool!
