"War of the Worlds"

Starring Tom Cruise (fellow Syracusan (he was born in my town))

* Damn awesome, terrifying concept... even better than the 1953 original!

APK

P.S.=> Science-Fiction - I love it! The "LITERATURE OF CHANGE"...

You guys'd mentioned "I AM LEGEND" - it's fantastic too!

(I have the original Richard Matheson films based on it as well, starring Vincent Price ("The Last Man on Earth") & the late Charleton Heston ("The Omega Man")... good film, about self-sacrifice, for the greater good!)

Will Smith's rendering is best though, by FAR, imo @ least:

You feel for Robert Neville... all alone, vs. the hordes of vampiric creatures, but still trying to 'save the day', & not flinching + giving up! apk

Since we're on the topic of VAMPIRE FILMS (which what "I am Legend" is largely about)?

Feel like being SCARED?? Well, then check this one out:

"30 Days of Night"

Picked it up last night & am GLAD I did!

* This sucker FLIPPED ME OUT! Very, VERY well-done "Vampire Flick", in fact, maybe the best I've ever seen... end was a BIT weak, but rest of it was great, terrifying situation, to-the-max!

When I watch films, especially ones like ths one (very "film noir"-ish, due to it being done in mostly night/dark scenes), I "get into them" & tend to relate to the characters + the situation they're in...

(Man! I would NOT want to have been one of THOSE folks trapped in that town, that's certain!)

Additionally, the Australian woman (Melissa George) who plays the blonde in the film (Stella) is very pretty (not "plastic" & natural beauty), + she does a GREAT "American English" accent... surprising!

APK

P.S.=> IF you haven't seen it?

Prep yourself/put on "mental seatbelts"... especially for the scene when they go thru the blizzard white-out to the store!

That is where the last survivors run into something there that utterly bummed me out, & terrified me (what if it happened to ME or MINE, basically) -> "I'm done playing with THIS one... you wanna play with me NOW?"

(UTTERLY horrifying).

A quote from it -> "God?".... "NO GOD"...

WoW...apk

Agreed, 110% - "NOT EVERYBODY IS TONY STARK!"

(That's one of my fav. scenes from it - where Jeff Bridges (Obadiah) is chewing out his engineers, saying Tony Stark built a micro-miniaturized version of said reactor in a cave, with scraps & YET, their entire TEAM could not... & that was the engineer's reply!)

ALSO - I really liked near the end, where Tony Stark States:

"And, the truth is... I AM IRON MAN!"

... &, "the crowd goes wild"...

-----

Plus, if you hang out, past the credits? There is MORE TO THAT FILM: I won't spoil it (not really)... because it is leading hopefully to what I had LONG hoped Marvel would do....

APK

P.S.=> I like this film's OVERALL concept: About a rich playboy who, though he is "accomplished-to-the-max", did so via well, imo, less than honorable means (making war) - & who undergoes a personal "turn-around" & decides instead to DO THE RIGHT THING (ah, if only the world's leaders today would do the same, you know?)... apk
