Can one ever really get caught up when behind?
My philosophy question for today. Dave ![]()

Just helped my bro pickup one HECK of a new laptop:
A VERY nice new HP unit! To the tune of $1500 almost, after "tax, title, & registration", but worth it, pretty 'State-of-The-Art' imo! I don't ordinarily even pay attention to laptops typically (not much interest here, though I was (or heck still am I * think *) certified by TOSHIBA for repair of their units? Well, I am "more into" desktops, because 'hotrodding them' is much simpler & more potentials for it exist in that capacity... imo, @ least!)! Anyhow/anyways: For me? Well, this was a 'good learning experience', as far as what modern laptops are like + capabilities in them, today/nowadays. ![]() His old one he is replacing? That goes to my niece (his daughter)... nice one too, imo! I.E.-> Also an older HP unit (he likes them, the thing survived the war after all in perfect condition for the MOST part):
![]() * She's a LUCKY kid, her Dad (my Bro) is doing extremely well financially & in his career in the "white collar corporate world" for a Fortune 100... I am VERY proud of him! Not only because he is a decorated officer (Bronze Star/Captain) but, surviving a war is 1 thing (pretty horrible imo): Surviving "Korporate Amerika", let alone EXCELLING in it? Quite another type of 'war', imo, & especially in mgt. & the "politiko" that comes along w/ THAT ride! APK P.S.=> I bet the 1st thing she does is hit GOOGLE IMAGES, & look for animals and other stuff (in addition to her FINALLY being able to play with this toy I picked up for her called a "webkins" - premise reminds me, sort of, of "cabbage patch kids", but with stuffed animals + ONLINE (somehow, they have a way to record a history, incept/birth date, etc. on them et al))... apk

Said "bye" to my bro' today, & I hate when he goes... ah, it's literally "put tears in both our eyes" before in the past, but, you KNOW how guys can be (gotta 'boogie' before anyone else can see it, lol).
Anyhow/anyways: We only see one another every few years nowadays, & this sucks... but, perhaps, this also makes me appreciate his visits more too. Who knows? Yes - I'll miss him! Mainly, because he's one of the MOST intelligent & worldly guys I know, personally, & we have EXCELLENT thought-provoking conversations (he is strong in areas I am weak, due to his education mostly (excellent one from S.U.) & this is useful to myself, by all means - I try to do the SAME for he, to strengthen him in any way I can is why). This, is what family is truly, all about, imo @ least. I am lucky I have a "little brother" (he may be younger, but he's way more physically 'massive' than I am (muscular brute type, lol)) like he I figure, & one I get along great with... we used to not, not really (too many years diff. in our ages, in our youths (10++ yrs.)). Nowadays though? Not the case - we get along great! It's a treat to see him again is all I can say. Gonna miss him. ![]() LOL, that had me "pretty depressed" but, what made it even worse? The world news... man! What is UP with the world today, is all I can say, about that... what the heck are we heading towards, economically for instance?? Another "great depression" or what??? Plus, all the wars & killing... Grow up mankind, please. APK P.S.=> Also went over to my pal Marc's again, to setup alternate email accounts for he & to "secure his email" (don't ask, long story that)... & made a couple extra bucks ($20) on the side too, doing so... got to watch his EXCELLENT musical videos collection he is transferring from VCR tapes to DvD's, & RATT (80's hair band) was my fav. (I loved them @ the time, & they're still decent now imo)... apk

Yea, I like(d) 'em, a lot, when they were "in the bigtime" (circa late 1980's - early 1990's)...
![]() * Hope you caught my "thanks" that went YOUR WAY, on the page prior to this one... big help, your 'warnings/advice'? Didn't go, unheeded, & thank goodness: BETTER PERFORMANCE in code, definitely resulted! APK

APK: Glad to be of help. Sorry I haven't been around much. I literally haven't been around. Lol! I've had enough airport security in the last few weeks to last a lifetime, I think, and it's not over yet.
Btw, your garden's looking good! WTG! Here's this week's harvest from my little plot, minus the green beans and about 1/2 the tomatoes (made sauce). ![]()

I'm glad I listened & took another peek @ the code... yes, it's not something users' would've noticed or "caught as a bug', but, every bit helps for better/faster performance!
(... & my catching that single SHORT var declaration (variant slow - only 1 oddly, I had 3-4 others right though) vs. ShortInt (faster/smaller in memory) helps, per your 'warning' to lookout for that (only 1 loop too, but a crucial one) - I don't think the BYTE vs. ShortInt helps much though, but, I'll take 'getting away w/ that one' here too (on another loop powering variable). Quote:
AND, speaking of "migrant farm workers": Pfah - my "garden" is only an 'experiment in gardening' (to see how much I could make cherry tomatoes solely grow, & faster, vs. those from the same batch my tenant put out - double the growth, double the output has resulted thusfar, but... my yields thusfar, pales, by way of comparison to yours, & the crop count you're pulling it seems!)... AND, a "yard decoration": ... @ best (especially by comparison to what it seems YOU are doing over there, based on yields alone). How long's your growing season there where you are on this planet? You put out a TON by way of comparison (mine have been "in the soil" since early June, to present, for your reference & will probably only survive 2++ months more tops, due to fall/winter coming in late Oct.) Quote:
![]() * Looks like you can feed an army over there... YOU get the "WTG/Good Job" from myself, by all means, & there is NO 'arguing with numbers/results' by any stretch-of-the-imagination here, after your evidences above... massive! APK P.S.=> I see tomatoes, green peppers (good stuff, but, I am a "red pepper" freak here (need hot HOT weather for these though from what I understand)), squash + zucchinis' there... but, not sure on 1: Is that also some eggplant in the mix up there in that photo too, or, have I not had enough coffee this a.m.? apk

No eggplants this year. For whatever reason they wouldn't sprout. Maybe next year.
Thanks for your kind words!
