I agree in that bill gates is good because he made the company with (vitually) nothing into probally the market leader.

However i am with many people in that i believe that microsoft are fat cats! Why can people who dont have a millionth of microsofts money are very happy to provide freeware software? many people say they are only getting what they deserver for produceing software. NO they are a multi billions $ company and should be able to provide much cheaper software! and even if they halved the price of all their products the would still make a profit!

(also about who ever said bill gates gives money to charity. What would u do if u made more that a $1000 every half hour?... put in in the banl and gain more interest? i doubt it......)

Whatever the Gates' reasons for giving to charity, the fact remains that they do, and that matters I'm sure they make up for it in tax returns or whatever, but I'm also sure that they do it because they want to make the world a better place (I know Melinda Gates is really in to it). Bill has always been a guy who wanted to make a difference and if you watch some of his presentations and such I think you can see it. He isn't a bad guy!

MS is a corporation, and the point is to make money. MS is very good at doing this In terms of their software, for most people it isn't expensive at all. The vast majority of customers get Windows pre-installed on their PC when they buy it, and a lot also get Office. The only people who really are shelling out the big bucks are mostly businesses and computer enthusiasts (which a recent poll I read said this is only about 10% of the market).

Sure I'd love to see lower prices, but I can totally comprehend their current pricing scheme.
