Yeah I heard about this. I can't believe they didn't know about existing companies using the name; I think they're just counting on winning any lawsuit coming to them.

I like the column by Dvorak:Windows Vista: Where's the Buzz?. Even though he's been saying MS will fall for years, I think he may be on to something this time. Especially with Macs switching over to x86 from PPC. I think Jobs just needs to license out the MacOS, then they'd really be competition for MS. I mean seriously, how many people would at least try MacOS if they could use it natively on PC hardware? Out of those people who just tried it, I bet they'd get a huge market share of Windows users making the switch for good.

There is a bug with the SATA module and the kernel with Ubuntu, so it's giving me errors. I'm just going to install Debian, because I've got no idea how to get around it

I agree Bill Gates is a philanthropist (at least in the public eye), but that doesn't mean I like Microsoft.

Microsoft is using their monopoly to ruin everything IMO. Everything from our browser standards (when you have 90% of the market share, you pretty much say what the standards are), to creating proprietary formats. They chose a name that is already in use, copywritten and trademarked. Why should Microsoft be exempt from law?

I don't hate Microsoft like some people, but I don't like how they do business. Their 'way' is probably the way for every huge corporate giant, but it doesn't mean I have to like it -- or stand for it.

(And MS really did start off with nothing, in every way the word can be implied When MS agreed to license their OS to IBM, they didn't actually have an OS. So they went and bought one. They spent $50k on PC-DOS, which led them to make... how much? I feel sorry for the original author.)
