or 'chick'....

Here in NZ, a bloke you don't know is often referred to as a 'Joker' (like..."I sold it to some Joker down the line...") and a woman you don't know is often referred to as a 'Chick' (like...."he's going out with some Chick from Auckland, don't know her name...")

Don't often hear girls referred to as 'Birds' here tho'

...of course also here (& more so in Australia)...there's 'Sheila', for a girl. As in "That bloody Sheila behind the bar overcharged me for those drinks!!".

There's also : 'Mad As...' , meaning very angry, upset - pretty much the opposite of 'Sweet As...' , meaning very nice, excellent. "Yeah - sweet as, bro..."

An old English term that people used around here in the past for a woman was "wench". The connotations changed from being someone that wasn't a high class lady to a very low class lady (as in one of the night).
