Here are the problems I am having and I despratly need someones assistance on this.
1. Sometimes when I click on Winamp I get an error message that says Bad DirectSound driver. Please install proper drivers or select another device in configuration. Error code 88780078. But if I do a restart the problem goes away. 2. Whenever I try to drag and drop a media file(audio or video) my system locks up so I will hit ctrl + alt + del and it will tell me that the program dr. watson is not responding so the only way to close it is for me to click on the processes tab and right click and click on close process tree (2x). 3. And sometimes this error mesaage will just appear, The application failed to initialize properly (0xc0000142) Click on Ok to terminate the application. And when I click ctrl + alt + del on that one they will not show any info in the applications, processes, performance, or networking windows, they will just be blank even though I am running a couple of applications. 4. Whenever I open up device manager when you click the plus next to other devices there is the yellow and black exclamation point next to my ethernet and network controllers. And when I click on the properties tab it tells me, The drivers for this device are not installed. (Code 2. To reinstall the drivers for this device, click Reinstall Driver. But there is no driver installed on my hd and I just bought this system used off ebay so I don't have an os disc to fix the problem. I am running an Emachines M5312 with a 60 gig hd and 512 mb ram and the OS is XP Pro. I just ran HijackThis - v1.99.1 and this is the log file I got. Logfile of HijackThis v1.99.1 Scan saved at 11:25:20 PM, on 11/8/2005 Platform: Windows XP SP2 (WinNT 5.01.2600) MSIE: Internet Explorer v6.00 SP2 (6.00.2900.2180) Running processes: C:\WINDOWS\System32\smss.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\winlogon.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\services.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\lsass.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\svchost.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\svchost.exe C:\WINDOWS\Explorer.EXE C:\Program Files\WinRAR\WinRAR.exe C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\IEXPLORE.EXE C:\Program Files\AIM\aim.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\taskmgr.exe C:\Documents and Settings\Me\Desktop\HijackThis.exe R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Local Page = R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Window Title = Microsoft Internet Explorer provided by CenturyTel R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Int ernet Settings,ProxyOverride = localhost R3 - URLSearchHook: (no name) - <default> - (no file) O2 - BHO: (no name) - {53707962-6F74-2D53-2644-206D7942484F} - C:\PROGRA~1\SPYBOT~1\SDHelper.dll O2 - BHO: Norton Internet Security - {9ECB9560-04F9-4bbc-943D-298DDF1699E1} - C:\Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared\AdBlocking\NISShExt.dll O2 - BHO: NAV Helper - {BDF3E430-B101-42AD-A544-FADC6B084872} - C:\Program Files\Norton Internet Security\Norton AntiVirus\NavShExt.dll O3 - Toolbar: Norton Internet Security - {0B53EAC3-8D69-4b9e-9B19-A37C9A5676A7} - C:\Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared\AdBlocking\NISShExt.dll O3 - Toolbar: Norton AntiVirus - {42CDD1BF-3FFB-4238-8AD1-7859DF00B1D6} - C:\Program Files\Norton Internet Security\Norton AntiVirus\NavShExt.dll O3 - Toolbar: Adobe PDF - {47833539-D0C5-4125-9FA8-0819E2EAAC93} - C:\Program Files\Adobe\Acrobat 7.0\Acrobat\AcroIEFavClient.dll O3 - Toolbar: &WinAmp Controls - {08173856-6921-4EFF-AFF2-9D46CEEE2C8E} - E:\Borland\Delphi6\Projects\IE_WinAmp\gen_wacntrl. dll (file missing) O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [SunJavaUpdateSched] C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.5.0_04\bin\jusched.exe O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [NeroCheck] C:\WINDOWS\system32\NeroCheck.exe O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [ccApp] "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared\ccApp.exe" O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [URLLSTCK.exe] C:\Program Files\Norton Internet Security\UrlLstCk.exe O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Internet Optimizer] "C:\Program Files\Internet Optimizer\optimize.exe" O4 - HKLM\..\RunOnce: [DeleteYourSiteBar] rundll32.exe advpack.dll,DelNodeRunDLL32 "C:\Program Files\YourSiteBar\ysb.dll" O4 - Global Startup: Adobe Acrobat Speed Launcher.lnk = ? I don't know what to do anymore, except throw this thing up against the wall, haha.

1. Reinstall sound drivers, you can get them online.
2. Why is dr. watson running.... it's a program which comes with windows and detects various faults. 3. Those failed to initialise (Memory Adress here) is from programs who try to use windows protected memory. This is usually because the program pre-dates xp and had some issue to begin with. 4. Download Network Drivers.
