One of the machines I am currently building is in a Ultra MicroFly case. It is loaded down with A LOT of goodies and it has very tight quarters. Most CPU coolers are way too big and the stock AMD one fits but does not cool it enough. I am looking for a strong & quiet fan based cooler for this case. Has anyone had any experience with these small cases? I normally use mid-size or full tower cases.

And what about Peltier coolers to solve this dilemma? I have never played with these coolers...yet, but they have me very curious!

And suggestions or ideas?

Hi micaman

One CPU cooler to consider is the Cooler Master Hyper L3 Low profile CPU-Cooler (no condensation) this can cool a OCd Duo, Spec - Quote -

Hi Annabell,

Sorry for taking soo long to reply, some things came up and I was MIA. Anyways, THANK YOU you for taking the time to post up your cooler suggestion. It is a sweet one, for sure. Nice and simple, yet strong.

If I would have been kind enough to list the specs, you would have seen that the cooler would not work, since this machine has a AMD chip.

Here are the specs:

AMD Athlon 64 X2 4200+ 2.20GHz / 1mb Cache / 1000MHz FSB / Socket AM2 / Dual-Core (Windsor) Processor

Gigabyte M51GM-S2G Motherboard

Seagate 400GB SATA - Used for Media Storage

Seagate 320GB SATA - Windows XP Media Center 2005

Crucial Ballistix PC 6400 DDR2 / 1024MB X 4

Lite-On Super Allwrite w/LightScribe X 2

Ultra 3.5 Floppy (yes, Floppy) w/ Multi-Card Reader

Coolmax CX-550B 550-Watt w/120MM Fan Power Supply

Ultra Microfly Silver Case w/ Clear Sides & Top

Logitech 5.1 Speaker System

120MM Rear Fan

80MM Front Fan

Lighting Kit

Lighting Rope

Now, I need to cool the chip and add a Graphics Card and it is Complete. Then I will be on to the next experimental Build (Tuniq - Full Tower)! These are being built for my company to stress test and benchmark, for a possible mass build.

As to a sutable GPU will this need to be low profile and will it be OCd ?

WOW! I like that one!! How did I miss that? lol

Looks like enough cooling power and the small size & low noise...this case DEMANDS!

THANKS, ANN

I think one make of low Profile Graphics Cards stands out from the rest is the ATI Fire MV range "Quality made small" , i looked up the spec of your Motherboard and this card will work very nicely, around $271.

The ATI Fire MV 2250 PCI Express - 256MB (Dual DVI + VGA - Low Noise -Low Profile

Thanks, Ann! That is very kind of you to research the Mobo and find a nice GPU.

I will have some time in the next few days to review it and will keep you posted.

I have the CPU cooler you recommended on order and will let you know how testing goes with this machine!

Thanks, again!

James
