So a "Do-It-You-Self" system that is connected to your mains water supply may not be the best option? - Think about it, you would save a bundle when heating hot water.

Would anyone recommend a Fan/Liquid cooling hybrid or is that a bit of a overkill?

Well, right now I'm on a HP Pavilion which only allows fan cooling. But I was looking into liquid cooling for a server farm and possibly a new desktop.

Wont be cheap Rogem but keep in mind servers stand alone or rack are mostly air cooled, but if you want to build it why not >

Quote:
A rack-mount server system of a liquid cooling system, in which a heat-generating component such as a CPU is cooled by a coolant has a plurality of server modules with heat-generating components which are cooled by the circulating coolant. The server modules are connected in parallel to a circulation coolant path through which the coolant to cool the server modules is circulated. In the middle of the coolant circulation path is a cooling unit that cools the coolant by radiating its heat to the outside air. Furthermore, a bypass route parallel to the server modules and going around the server modules is provided in the coolant circulation path, and the circulation quantity of the coolant is controlled in the bypass route. Alternatively, the flow quantity of the coolant is controlled in each of the server modules.

I have a feeling my "Do-It-Your-Self" system idea needs a proof of concept...
*Gets out hammer..."Now where is that pipe?"*

Right now I have an ageing Samsung 80GB. It's quite portable, but I'm mainly looking for a overkill external. *Just encase you wanted to know*
I saw a quite cheap one on Amazon (500GB for like £77 - Freecom Hard Drive 500GB External USB-2, silver) made by freecom, the last freecom product I brought had an epic fail has anyone tried this type?
