Liquid cooling sounds promising, however, having it custom built makes it expensive. Isn't liquid cooling available in computer stores yet? Anyway, after passing the radiator, how cold will the liquid get?

The technologies used today are a little easier to use. When liquid cooling first came out, it was mostly experimental. There are some stores that will sell liquid cooling parts but it might be better to have it custom build anyway. At least you know it will work and fit than to spend more money finding different models that will fit on your CPU/case.

I think what scares people is the fact that it could leak; even if one is okay, using custom build may save you troubles later on.

You can always lash out and use a dielectric coolant, so if it leaks, you have no worries.

Speaking of which, I read an interesting article from Aug 2005 that talked about indirect and direct liquid cooling. Article here.

There has also been work on thin silicone sealants that would permit heat transfer but not allow shorting due to liquids.

I guess the big question is, how much money do you have to spend on this new, and possibly custom built, system.

If you want to go a step further, I believe some novelty sites like ThinkGeek offer aquarium water coolant, where fishes can live in

I was considering Water/Liquid Cooling, but I heard the following:
1. The water needs topping up from time to time (some designs seem to evaporate the water - wtf").
2. The water may leak.
